Perfect Bridal Bible
There will be jitters before and during the ceremony or wedding that may make you want to call the whole thing off, but with a little bit of clear-thinking and action-taking, you can end up with the perfect day.
Dealing with those uninvited guests.
Inviting the Kumar's means Mr and Mrs having an invitation to celebrate your big day, but when they turn up with Master and Ms Kumar as well as senior Kumar members of the family and their cleaner plus their children, it may be a bit of a squeeze for your guests. Our advice is to make it specific how many guests are allowed if any with your attendees. This will avoid hassle and headache in the long run.
"Requesting the pleasure of you attendance; Mr and Mrs Kumar plus 3 / and 3 children"
Dealing with invited guests.
Waiting for replies to invitations can feel like forever, and if you are not receiving a reply, then it might be the fact that your guests have forgotten or are unsure about attending. In this kind of situation, it would be good if your invitations had your number on it or a return-addressed and stamped envelope so that they can easily send a reply. If after a long time you still haven't received one, then it is up to you to chase up your guest with a phone call confirming attendance.
So little time so much to do.
It may feel like everything related to your wedding is piling up; catering, dress, bridesmaid dresses, venue; the list is endless. Trying to sort this entire day out by yourself is a hard way to go about your wedding, especially with interfering relatives and friends. But if you consider them helpers rather than interfering, then it could help your big day go with flying colours. The mother-in-law may have her own ideas on what caterers to use, so rather than agreeing or disagreeing with each other, you could hand out duties to each person. She could collect a range of places to cater to your day and then the final choice could be left to the bride and groom. The same would go with the venue, entertainment and decoration; each being assigned to a hopefully trustworthy guest that would do a lot of the hard work for you. But remember to always have a back-up for everything just in case something goes wrong on the day (or your chosen company goes bust). A written contract with each company you are working with is a must.
Fight for your right to party.
Every family has a few relatives who are feuding. It might be your uncle Bhavish and his wife's brother or your aunt Fehmina's sister who had a small disagreement which has made for years of lost talking. Whatever it might be, you still want these guests at your wedding, but you don't want them to be in close range of each other if you don't want to see fireworks of the wrong kind. Drawing up a blueprint of your chosen venue with DJ or band as well as table layout will allow you to plan every single seat that will be taken on the day. This means you can arrange your guests not only according to family, and family feuding, but to who you want closest to the head table.
Losing it.
Not your sanity, but weight. The stress of wedding planning may contribute to weight see-sawing up and down. This is a worry for the final day as it means fitting into your dress may be hard. The only thing to recommend here is to find someone who will make you a dress, but not too early. A written contract is best, but having a tailor made dress will mean that you can not only pick and choose the one that is perfect for you, but also one that fits you nicely. It is best to know how your weight fluctuates normally if it does do determine whether you need to wait until closer to the day to have it made to fit.
Best man and bride's maid.
It is now a common thing to have both of these at a wedding, and what better way to show your appreciation to a friend by entrusting them with this honour. But this may cause fights between friends and other family members who may have thought that it would be their role. With the groom, there's not much he can do but to smooth it out with his buddies or to make them all best men, and if this is really the case then that's great. For brides however, there can be more than one bridesmaid and this means there are no hard feelings. Having a small get-together with your selected friends and family members where everybody can meet each other is a great way to get people comfortable with their role in your big day and should definitely be considered if it's possible.
Little things to keep in mind.
-It might be wise to keep a little sewing kit to touch up anything on the wedding gown that might be ruined as it can usually take of any situation.
-Make sure you see a mock-up of your decoration to make sure it looks the way you want it to. Turning up on the day to empty looking tables and a sparse hall is not going to be the amazing image that you imagined in your mind beforehand.
